Nancy Wilson is a Grammy Award winner in jazz. Nancy Wilson was born on the 20th of February, 1937 in Chillicothe OH to Olden Wilson, who was employed at the ironworks as well as Lillian Ryan, a former domestic employee. Nancy was the eldest of six children. Nancy was heavily influenced in her early years by the music her dad played and loved when she was at her home. Nancy's first Dot Records recording was made during her time in the Carolyn Club Big Band. Cannonball Aderley suggested that she relocate in New York so as to enhance her career. In 1959, Nancy moved into The Big Town. In less than a month she began singing at The Blue Morocco Night Club which is located at Boston Road near The Bronx. A representative from Adderley's company saw her singing and instantly took her on. It was a contract with Capitol Records in 1960. In 1960, she made her debut with. Guess who I saw this morning. Capitol released five Nancy Wilson albums within two years. With the help of Adderley's influence she shifted her focus her focus from R&B towards jazz. Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley joined forces in 1962 and allowed her to climb in the chart. The year 1963 was when she scored her greatest success through Tell Me the Truth. It led her to perform at New York's Coconut Grove the premier night club in America that year, and she quickly became a legend.
