Jazz musician Nancy Wilson a three-time Grammy Award winner was born on the 20th of February 1937 in Ohio, Chillicothe. She was the daughter of iron worker Olden Wilson and the former Lillian Ryan who worked as a domestic servant. Nancy Wilson was the first baby of six. Nancy was a child who listened to the records of her father and his passion for music. As young as 4, Nancy already knew that her future was as an artist. Nancy recorded her first record in the band's studio with Dot Records while in the band. Cannonball told her she should move to New York and go to The Big Town to further her singing career. Adderley's Agent heard her at The Blue Morocco Night Club, Boston Road, The Bronx and she signed. Within a month of her arrival at New York City. The contract was signed signing her with Capitol records in 1960 and she debuted the following year by releasing the single. Guess Who I Saw Today. Capitol issued five Nancy Wilson records in just two years. Following the influence of Adderley, Nancy Wilson shifted her focus from R&B into jazz. Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley's collaboration in 1962 helped to make her a star and her smash hit Tell Me the Truth was released in 1963. It was this performance that brought her to the stage in the New York Coconut Grove in 1963, which was America's biggest nightclub.
