Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman. She is the President and the controlling owner of Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. The California born Buss was raised in an upper class family. The father of her Jerry Buss was a real-estate tycoon, who was later the proprietor of the Lakers and other sports businesses. Following the divorce of her parents in 1972 She began feeling emotionally abandoned. When she was 19 years old she inherited management of the Los Angeles Strings professional Tennis team as their General Manager. Then, she established the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. She served as the head of the Great Western Forum before assuming the role of vice-president of the Lakers. Her father died in 2013, and his control over ownership for the Lakers was transferred to Buss as well as her siblings by a trust of the family that gave each sibling an equal vote. She assumed the office as head of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also a co-owner of Women of Wrestling a pro-wrestling organization based within Los Angeles.
